If you don't like my choice of words then pick another phrase.

How about "a somewhat terse discussion in which GRC agitates a drunk MJ into loudly talking about the BOM", is that better? I'm fine with that. The word choice doesn't bother me and is/was entirely aside from my central point which you have failed to address.

The point is:

GRC, goading a drunk Rock Star into yelling, by beating him over the head with religion, while in-flight, is a very poor way to do the Lord's work.

"I guess in your world" that might be considered a good idea. ha. Thank heaven that's not the world I live in.

GRC should've known better. As you know, when one does that he tends to be a little looser in the way he talks and thinks. Finally, in a rather loud voice towards the end of our discussion, he said something like, “Furthermore, about your Book of Mormon—your Book of Mormon is a lie, and any man that believes it is a liar.” He said it in such a way that most people nearby could hear it. That really did upset me."

Goading a drunk into yelling, by beating him over the head with religion while in-flight is no way to do missionary work.

Again, Cook should've known better.

It would be great if you read the article Anon. Depending on the track I can drive over the speed limit, emotions of sort effected.
Lets face it the is good uplifting music and music that can have its inspiration from elsewhere. Having been a DJ for a number of years in the UK pre and post mission this is true I just witness how people react to that I play.
I believe the account to be true & I believe that Mick Jagger would make such a comment. He & the band were massively popular they were stadium fillers before U2, Coldplay and Greenday.
Just to add some validity to my statements, my father attended the same school as Mick. Dartford Grammar School, Kent England. He also was in the army cadets with Mick and spent time with him teaching him the cornet. As my father would say he hasn't changed much.
Again does it really matter. Does my eternal salvation rest on this matter? No but it is pretty cool that it did happen.
Thank you Bro. As stated previous, I was not living at home in 1983. I was at a boarding school that year. By September of 1983 I began coming home on weekends to visit. GRC was home the evening of the 30th, late. That night, I got to hear snippets of the MJ encounter.

The next day, a FHE (it really doesn’t matter what day it was held) was given. I was not present. By that Friday, I was back home again. While at home for the weekend, the brothers watching TV came across the MJ expose. As kids naturally are, we asked GC to come look at the TV, partly to see if we could get a reaction from him. Was this really Mr. Jagger? It’s not like we went out of our way to view it. It’s my guess we found it in the course of flipping channels. Big deal.

After this, another family discussion ensued.

Yes there were commitments and admonishments made, but what kid is perfect? You readily admit you’re a “sinner”, as we all are… so perhaps you should cut others—including impressionable kids—some slack. And that is, as they say…the truth.

Now since you have a crystal ball, go ahead a lecture me about how I have somehow “spun a yarn”.Troynoreply@blogger.com
