For their part, the tobacco advertisers consciously and assiduously worked to subvert individuals' agency by appealing to their insecurities, etc., etc., and it seems only just that they, too, should suffer the consequences of their choices (in the form of the tobacco lawsuits).

Also: this is a Mormon blog, so I'm sure I don't have to point out that these execs did on an earthly scale precisely what Mormons say that Satan did on a cosmic scale.

I DON'T have to point this out, right? But wait. I DID have to point it out! So I guess what REALLY bothers me is that so many people who profess to believe in the existence of Satan are unable to recognize him when he's standing in plain sight.

-- EveningsunAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7139169.post-12685054375074660592012-12-11T08:58:10.144-06:002012-12-11T08:58:10.144-06:00Anon said: "What is really irritating is peop...Anon said: "What is really irritating is people who smoked for most of their lives, then sue the tobacco companies for damages and actually win millions of dollars, because they chose to smoke."

Do you have stock in tobacco companies? Tobacco companies are drug dealers, stringing children out (through lies, as Jeff points out above), who as adults, then die from it. They engineer a drug that alters your brain chemistry so that it's nearly impossible to kick the habit, thereby robbing them of choice.

Tobacco companies have cost the US health care industry billions in health care. Your taxpayer dollars, your insurance premiums.

Tobacco companies are evil. I hope those folks win zillions from the tobacco companies and shut them down for good.
