Is that the surprise you were referring to?Panaderonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7139169.post-72822716120102302262018-09-30T08:25:19.052-05:002018-09-30T08:25:19.052-05:00I think you meant curelom in the room, right? Clea...I think you meant curelom in the room, right? Clearly Book of Mormon peoples underwent significant changes in their language. The Book of Mormon makes this clear. Both their scribal system ("reformed Egyptian") and their spoken Hebrew are said to have undergone significant changes, such that no other nation knew their language. But the scripture writers had the brass plates loaded with ancient language on it that they quoted and that clearly helped them maintain their written language, so that was an anchor that added some stability to the sacred text they provided. Portions of it were definitely Old World Hebrew/Egyptian as written by Nephi and the early Nephite writers, but what Mormon was writing likely had some notable differences. BoM peoples would have evolved independently both culturally and linguistically from their old world counterparts. A consistently old world Hebrew text produced in the new world seems like it would be an anomaly. No need to engage the argument and evidence, no need to even read beyond the headline, just dismiss everything and claim victory. Even when it does eventually gain some respect from non-LDS experts, as chiasmus has, it's still invisible. Move along, folks. There's no evidence, just artifacts.
