I have a plethora of reasons for being against affirmative action in all forms and scenarios, but to suggest it in the Church just seems downright ludicrous to me. If I'm not mistaken, as members of the Church we sustain our leaders as men both called and guided by Deity. Therefore, the selection of an individual for ANY calling is a matter of heavenly decree--not earthly racial scorekeeping. The Lord will choose the correct person for each calling, irrespective of ethnicity. To suggest that it's man's prerogative to decide such things--and based largely on race, no less--goes contrary to one of the chief pillars of the Restoration.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
