The last time we went was several months ago. We had wanted to go at least one a month since then but, of course, things get busy and it is hard to set aside an entire day to go to the Temple.

I am tempted to argue that it is far easier to make the sacrifice to go to the Temple when it is nearby and the entire experience will take just a few hours, but, really, a sacrifice is a sacrifice, and we both know that we need to just pick a day and go.

Thanks for the reminder that blessings come when we make time for the Lord!

(On a completely unrelated note, has the major storm in China and Taiwan affected your missionary son?)Alex T. On this Saturday, my sister needed help moving and I had a series of stake meetings to attend. I reasoned that I could help my sister for a few hours in the morning, skip my stake meetings and still eek out a decent paycheck for the day.

Well, I got caught up helping my sister and then realized that I would regret missing my stake meetings. Although my paycheck was not as big the following week, I was spiritually recharged and was able to help my sister secure the balance of her security deposit.

Doing what is right is not always the easy thing to do, but in the final examination, it is the best thing to do. As the popular hymn rightly suggests, "Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven."Brian Duffinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02375697102003702849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7139169.post-24357551508614567652009-08-09T08:17:13.189-05:002009-08-09T08:17:13.189-05:00Thank you for your insightful post and its reminde...Thank you for your insightful post and its reminder of true principles. Despite many similar situations where I have been blessed for my sacrifice, I still panic and debate whether to serve the Lord or use the time for my own seemingly urgent projects when I am up against a deadline. No time to visit teach this month! Must do that class project on Sunday!

The opposite issue is using 'church service' as an excuse to avoid personal responsibilities: I heard a talk once on "don't have an affair with your church calling". I have seen people who do, and have immersed myself a bit too deeply a few times myself, to the detriment of other important considerations.

It is a constant struggle to figure out what the Lord would have me do, and exercise the faith to choose that option.Eileen in Chicagolandnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7139169.post-72218087336818520982009-08-08T21:51:00.646-05:002009-08-08T21:51:00.646-05:00I love this story; I've seen similar things ha...I love this story; I've seen similar things happen in my life too. Sacrifices that I make for the Lord before I do my schooling somehow makes it so that my efforts are more effective.

I've had due dates extended and Verilog programs and Logicworks schematic labs be completed faster than usual.Michaela Stephenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04163084369311708249noreply@blogger.com
